Q: Do I need different nutrients for the flowering and vegetative stages of the plant?
A: No need for separate nutrients with House & Garden! Our nutrients are substrate-specific, not stage-specific. That means our A&B (two-part) nutrient is perfect from seedling to harvest. House & Garden A/B nutrients are suitable for use in coco, soil, and various forms of hydroponic crop production. You can adjust the NPK ratio by using our potent additives, such as Top Booster during the flowering stage to increase the PK ratio when your plants need it most. When using our substrate-specific base nutrients, remember to always measure your EC (conductivity) to ensure precise feeding tailored to your crop's growth stage.
Q: Do I need all of the nutrient bottles?
A: It depends on your garden and crop! House & Garden is designed to function as a complete nutrient solution for heavy fruiting/flowering crops, incorporating both mineral and organic components found in different bottles. Our base nutrient employs highly pure chelated minerals and humic/fulvic acids, while our additives and stimulants enhance crop profiles using vitamins, minerals, enzymes, organic amendments, and more. Achieve exceptional results with the full House & Garden range by following our feed guides. Check out our "Starter Kit" at your local hydroponic retailer for a cost-effective way to access the entire range.
Q: How often should I feed?
The feeding frequency depends on your system type, crop variety, and growth stage. In standard hydroponic system designs (coco/hydroponic), daily feeding is recommended. Always monitor run-off EC and substrate EC to ensure precise nutrient delivery and avoid overfeeding or underfeeding. Different substrates have varying nutrient retention capabilities, and your plant's size also influences nutrient utilization. Consistently maintaining optimal moisture content and EC is crucial for successful hydroponic crop production. Keep an eye on feeding schedules and make adjustments as needed.
Q: Should I use Shooting Powder and/or Top Shooter?
Shooting Powder and Top Shooter are both potent PK (Phosphorus and Potassium) boosters. Shooting Powder is in powder form, while Top Shooter is a liquid version. These products encourage rapid floral growth in the final stages of reproduction. Do not use both Shooting Powder and Top Shooter simultaneously, and always reduce your A/B Base Nutrient ratios when using these powerful additives. It's essential to note that the effectiveness of Shooting Powder/Top Shooter can vary among cultivars, so start with a lower dilution to assess your crop's response. These products contain no harmful chemicals, synthetic hormones, or PGRs.
Q: Do you offer any Silica products?
Silica is gaining recognition as a vital nutrient for heavy flowering crops. Mono-Silicic acid is the most potent form of silica available, and it's incorporated into our unique product, Amino Treatment. We recommend using Amino Treatment with any House & Garden Nutrient program to experience the potent action of silicic acid and other organic components. If you prefer standalone silicate products (OSA formulations, etc.), start with a light dose and mix with water in the reservoir before adding other base nutrients. Be cautious as some silica products can be unstable and may affect pH and interact negatively with other minerals in nutrients.
Q: Can I use just the base nutrient?
A: Absolutely! Our A/B base formulations are considered among the best base fertilizers globally. Some growers achieve great success using just our base formulation for simplicity. However, to fully maximize your crop's potential, our additives and stimulants are essential. Our nutrient program is designed as a comprehensive solution for the plant's entire lifecycle, from seedling through different growth and reproductive stages, utilizing biological compounds to aid in these transitions. While the A/B nutrients will help your plant perform, we encourage you to unlock the full potential of your garden.
Q: What's the difference between Aqua Flakes A/B and Hydro A/B?
A: Both Aqua Flakes A/B and Hydro A/B are designed for hydroponic systems using inert substrates like rockwool and expanded clay. The key distinction lies in nutrient uptake and pH stability. Aqua Flakes A/B is ideal for recirculating systems, offering prolonged pH stability and equal nutrient absorption over 1-2 weeks in an aerated solution. Hydro A/B, on the other hand, is engineered for run-to-waste/drain-to-waste systems. It stabilizes pH more quickly, and nutrients are formulated for immediate uptake. While both work well in DWC, Aqua Flakes is generally preferred for these systems. Visit the individual product pages for more details.
